upcoming iOS - spells disasters for old iphone users?

Oh no, iOS 6's supposedly new features all sounded great on paper, until it was made known that alot of the features will only work well with iPhone 4s and above. Folks stuck with the iPhone 4, and 3GS will have to suck thumb!

The GPS - turn-by-turn feature for example will be missing from iOS6 for iPhone 4. What's even worse for Singapore users are that the new Apple Maps may not be functioning well. Google maps was doing great with street view, bus routes etc.  With Apple Maps, satellite overlay may be bad too - with clouds blocking the buildings haha. Some feature even requires Mountain Lion on your Macbook - and Mountain Lion is again compatible with some newer Macbook models only.

This is all fine, if we can stick to iOS5 for iphone4, but we all know that apps will start to demand you have iOS6 to install and run.  This will suck.

Oh yah, Youtube app will be gone too from iOS6, need to use safari to get to it.....

Killer AIO mobile device

Let's play a game called "Wouldn't it be cool.... if...."

I would love to have a mobile device that is All-In-One.  Light and Portable.

An Ultrabook/Macbook Air?  A Tablet ?

Wouldn't it be cool if there is a device based on the Letexo reference design by Intel and includes GPS and tablet functions.  Wouldn't it be cool if the device runs Windows 8 and also run's Android as a concurrent OS (Virtualized) at the same time??  Even better if it can double as a phone (connected via bluetooth earpiece)

That way, I can have my Laptop, Tablet, Phone all running at the same time in an AIO device with huge battery life and high-res to boot.

What do you think?

Enter the Dragon

Hello Readers,

It's the new year, and the year of the Water Dragon.  This year, we shall probably witness more tablets than ever, and a slew of new "Ultrabooks" amongst other stuffs.  Kindle will probably take some more market-share and mind-share of eBook readers.

Android will no doubt be as aggressive as ever to try and win more market share from iOS devices.  As more Apps become more Androidapable and hardware becomes insanely cheaper from vendors in the lights of Samsung and LG,  we shall see more people migrate to the Android platform.  Although some portion of the iOS population are locked-in and will not migrate.  These are the die-hard fans, Apple fan-boys and folks that have invested in alot of software and accessories that only work with their favourite iDevice.

As for monitors, I see 27-inch sizes becoming more a common ground - and hopefully some of them will become 2.5K pixel density (aka  2560x1440 pixel resolutions).  As monitors become 2.5K, TVs will become smart and slowly migrate to 4K resolutions.

With the invasion of tablets, home automation will become increasingly common.  the iGeneration babies will grow up and adopt a more automated home with motorized curtains, lightings and room temperatures.  When will there be an automated vacuuming robot that do house work? !! ke ke ke ( giggles)

This blog has been left more or less inactive for quite a while, as I work a hell of alot and gets little time for it.  But I hope this year, I can recruit some of you to help with content.. so if there are any volunteers, do contact me !

Cheers
Steven
